Family Reunion

Accommodation:

The Suites are the ideal place for family reunions. Why stop yourselves from meeting just because the house is not big enough to accommodate all the family, or because the hosting responsibility is always given to the same person? The Suites offer 7 bedrooms, 3 pullout couches, and cots, all in order to accommodate the whole family. We even have a berth for the toddlers. The spacious Suites allow the gathering of large families. Each individual family can have its own Suite, or own bedroom, depending on its size. The side door leading to the Ferland Suite is wheelchair accessible and allows people with reduced mobility to participate to the gathering.

The parking space and yard lets you install a small trailer or tents. Contact us to know how many people we can host for your meeting. It is also possible to rent hotel rooms in the community, such as the Leisure Inn, located a 5-minute walk from the house if there is not enough room for everyone.

The four bathrooms and two water heaters allow everybody to have enough hot water and get ready in a timely manner. We have enough towels and bed sheets for twenty-something people.

Meals:

The large kitchen in the Ferland Suite, and the dishwasher and refrigerators from the three suites makes food storage, preparation and cleanup easy after the meals. The barbecue, which is accessible from the Ferland kitchen, facilitates cooking for everyone involved. Dishes and all necessary accessories are available for cooking your meals. A collection of silverware is even available for an historical evening so you can travel to the silver rush era.

The open space in the Ferland living room lets a large group of people gather around the table. The solarium in that same room is an excellent area to layout the food. Garden access allows guests to eat outside. The gardens on that side of the house have large flat areas, allowing you to install a tent or picnic tables.

Activities:

The three living rooms in the house gives youngsters, teens and adults each their separate area in the house for their reunion and fosters good family gatherings. Proximity to the waterfront, golf courses and the curling club makes it easy to organize activities during your stay.

The Presidents’ Suites offers the possibility to organize an historical evening, which bring back the participants to the year 1923, right after the Great Fire of 1922. For this activity, each member is assigned a historical character. People get to discover the region’s and Northern Ontario’s history all while having fun.

Funeral

Facing the lost of a loved one is never easy. The main objective of the funeral or life commemorating of a close relative is to help the grieving process. The support from family and friends is vital to help us get through the pain of losing a family member.

The Presidents’ Suites is the perfect place to reunite the family and friends in a spacious and welcoming environment, especially if there are no family members living in the area, or when nobody has a house large enough to host fifty-something guests. The neutral environment of the house encourages all to get their hands dirty instead of giving the responsibility to someone in particular.

The large 27 square feet living room of the Ferland Suite and the solarium next to it can accommodate a large group in a family friendly environment. The large kitchen in the Ferland Suite allows the preparation of meals. The three refrigerators from the Suites will keep cold all the food provided by people in the community.

For guests from out of town, seven spacious rooms are available. Four bathrooms with two water heaters will ensure that everybody can get ready in a timely manner.

The various rooms and areas of the house encourage exchange amongst members who need to mourn or need to have serious discussions in a more personal and private setting.

The large gardens, the various balconies and the waterfront create a more relaxed atmosphere and make the process more positive.

Visiting Parents Living in Elderly Homes

The decision to put our family in an elderly home is never an easy one, especially when the parent is the last family member in the community. Visits can then become long days sitting around a bed in a discouraging environment.

The Presidents’ Suites gives you the opportunity to experience something new with your family members: a family-friendly environment which is easily accessible and which allows you to cook and have quality time in a private home.

The Ferland Suite, which is located on the first floor, makes it easy to access the house. The large rooms of this Suite, and its hardwood and ceramic floors facilitate the moving around with wheelchairs or walkers.

The solarium and the grand balcony that face the lake allows you to watch the activities going on Lake Temiskaming . If your parent is a little more mobile, he or she might enjoy a walk in the gardens around the house, or sit on the property’s dock.

The grand kitchen in the Ferland Suite allows you to prepare the family’s favorite dishes. The spacious suite allows you to invite the entire family or friends for dinner.

A toilet raiser is available for any needs during your stay. Suites also have a small plastic shower bench to facilitate showering.

Two large rooms will allow you to have a good night’s rest. The bed in the front bedroom can be moved against the wall for security purposes.
