Fraser Hotel, Giclée print by Laura Landers

The Fraser Hotel is one of Cobalt’s most impressive buildings. Built in 1909 as the Royal Exchange Building, it was fitted with special fireproof doors on the upstairs suites and boasted a purple-mauve glass sidewalk, lit from underneath. It is now being refurbished and hopefully will be made into apartments and offices. The houses adjacent to the hotel are still the original structures from the early days and have been declared historical treasures.
