Northern Ontario Business News has written an interesting story on Co-Worx.

Coworking spaces are an emerging sensation and they can be seen popping up in cities across the world!  Very few can be found in rural Northern Ontario. 2006 and 2015 the number of coworking spaces and available seats have roughly doubled each year.  Co-Working was first conceptualized by Sunshine Suites in 2001.

Coworking, as we experience it today, was preceded by European internet entrepreneurs.   Another major factor that drove demand for coworking was the growing role of independent workers.

The number of coworking spaces worldwide is projected to soon cross 20,000 and reach 25,968 by 2022, an increase of 42% from 2019. This would also mean that there has been an average increase of 2,595 new spaces every year since 2015.  More information on coworking can be found at Coworking Resources.
