The Guest House, a 3-bedroom house with spectacular views on lake Temiskaming, was built in 1926 and is very rich in terms of architecture with most of the original woodwork still present.
More About the Guest House
The main floor consists of a living room, dining room, full kitchen, luncheon and work area on the lakeside and also a front veranda. On the second floor, you will find the main bathroom, a main bedroom on the lakeside with an ensuite bathroom and a second bedroom, which could accommodate an additional cot. Both upstair bedrooms have queen size beds and the living room has a Queen size pull-out sofa. A 3rd bedroom, bathroom, laundry room and storage area is available in the basement.
Two patios with stunning views on lake Temiskaming will provide you with memorable souvenirs. The upper deck has a patio set and BBQ while the lower back deck has an exterior spa. Being only a 2 minutes walk (200m) from the Villa (taking the back lane is even shorter), all the exterior amenities available at the Villa (dock, kayaks, canoes, bicycles…) can still be enjoyed.
Please note that the Guest House video was produced in the winter of 2013. The upper main patio was not shown in the video as it is not available in the winter. Since then, the basement was redone where an additional bedroom and bathroom were added. A lower back patio with an exterior all season spa was also added. This back patio can be accessed from the basement level.

A Bit of History About the Guest House
Jim McRae, mining editor of the Northern Miner, built the house after the 1922 fire just above the ‘millionaire’s row’. This part of town had not been affected from the fire and people were scrambling to find any available remaining lots in this intact part of town.
TheNorthern Miner, first published in 1915, during the Cobalt Silver Rush, is still considered today Canada’s leading authority on the mining industry. Max Whitby, one of the two pharmacists in Haileybury at the time, owned the house in the early 1940’s.
Brewster Street was part of the 1906 Ferland subdivision. Brewster street was known as the upscale street of Haileybury, much more quieter than Lakeshore. Mine owners Henry and Noah Timmins built in 1906 two identical three-storey brick houses at the top end of the street. The Dunbar house was also just a few houses up.
Vacation Home Rental & Apartment Hotel Concept
The President’s Suites offers you high-end accommodation in historical homes based more on the concept of vacation home rental and apartment style living rather than that of a hotel. Our suites and houses offer you hotel services in the cosiness of an apartment or a house.
The innovative concept makes it the perfect venue for your business travels, meetings, family, friend & group reunions, weddings or weekend holidays, or simply for a place to stay during a working period in the area. Each home and suite offers distinctly unique features. Depending on what you are looking for, tranquillity, atmosphere, or convenience, we will tailor your stay to suit your needs. It is similar to renting an all-furnished home and apartment and occupants can “check-out” whenever they wish either after a one-day, a few days or a one-week stay. The concept allows our clients to do everything they would at home, such as cooking, washing, relaxing and entertaining. We offer a free continental breakfast. We now have meeting rooms to meet your business needs.
Our homes and suites include the site of a century-old inn located on the historical Millionaire’s row in Haileybury (Temiskaming Shores), situated on the shores of Lake Temiskaming. Other historical housing accommodations are also located close by and with great views of the lake. Haileybury is a picturesque community located in Ontario and on the border of the province of Quebec. We are only a few minutes from New Liskeard and Cobalt.
